Helen Mills
Clinical Assistant

I have been passionate about natural health for many years. After working with children for 25 years as a child care worker and then a foster parent, I moved into the health and wellness field. I worked at an organic food home delivery company and owned my own store selling natural and organic makeup and skin care. I then worked as a receptionist for a chiropractor for several years before moving to the Sunshine Coast and joining Hummingbird Naturopathic Clinic

I have been on the Sunshine Coast for several years having moved from Langley, which is far too busy and heavily populated for me! I much prefer the more laid back and slower pace in Sechelt.

I enjoy reading, movies, and spending time with my family. I have a daughter and an 8-year old grandson, and there are twins on the way.

Laura Anderson, BA, BEd
Clinical Assistant

Laura grew up in a rural community in Southwestern Ontario, but she was destined to settle on the Sunshine Coast (her paradise). She has explored various interests throughout her education and career: In 2010,  she obtained her BA Honours in English and Religions & Cultures from Nipissing University; in 2011, she earned her Bachelor of Education degree from the Schulich School of Education and became certified to teach in Ontario; and in 2014, she earned her Advanced Business Management and E-Commerce Diploma from Sprott Shaw College. In her personal life, she has a passion for health and wellness, so her experience working as a Vision Therapist solidified her desire to work in health care. Thanks to her cumulative work experience in various administrative roles, working as a Clinical Assistant at Hummingbird Naturopathic Clinic was a natural fit.

"I am incredibly grateful to be able to work in the field of naturopathic medicine.  Supporting the physicians and patients at this clinic is my greatest endeavour. My first priority when you come into the clinic is to serve you and to make your experience here a good one.  Helen and I are always looking to improve the service we offer to you, so please don’t hesitate to make suggestions; we will gladly listen!

On a personal level, in my spare time, I enjoy learning about various healing modalities, including yoga.  My husband and I also keep busy by training our new rescue dog, Jerry.  He’s a sweetheart and has taught us many valuable lessons thus far!  We are also adventuring into the world of gardening by mapping out a vegetable and herb garden in our new yard."
