Current Covid-19 Clinic Requirements

Hummingbird Naturopathic Clinic is here to serve our community the best way that we can.  As BC moves into phase II of the pandemic, we are now able to resume some in patient appointments with strict guidelines.  We will continue to offer telemedicine and phone appointments, as well as “contactless” supplement refills.  As always, we will be working to follow all recommendations made by BC CDC, WorkSafe BC and our licensing body, the CNPBC which means there will be some changes to how we do things.  Please note all procedures are subject to change as regulations and recommendations change.

Dr. Dawson and Dr. Clarke are available for a limited number of in person appointments.  The following guidelines will apply:

PreScreening

Every patient will be prescreened before their appointment.  Please let us know immediately if you have a fever, cough or other suspicious symptoms.  Please do not come into the clinic if you have symptoms of Covid-19 or someone in your house has symptoms.  We ask that people who have been travelling outside of BC in the previous 2 weeks or are living with someone who has been travelling outside of BC in the previous 2 weeks to avoid coming into our clinic, even if you do not have symptoms.

In Person Appointments

  • In person appointments will be staggered so that we can avoid having more than 1 patient in the clinic at any one time.  This means the time slots available are limited, and we will have to follow our schedule as closely as possible.

  • Please arrive just on time.  We are limiting the number of patients in the clinic at any one time to two.  If you arrive early, please wait in your car until just before your appointment is to begin.

  • Please come alone whenever possible, or, with one family member who is joining you in the appointment.  At this time, we cannot allow people to be waiting in our waiting room.  If someone is with you, we respectfully request that they come into your appointment with you, or wait outside or in their car.

  • Please wash your hands as soon as you arrive.

  • You will notice that the magazines, toys, and water cooler have been removed from the waiting room.  Please bring your own water bottle if you will need water.

  • The doctor will come to get you when she is ready and lead you to the clinic room.

  • The rooms have been set up to adhere to physical distancing requirements.  Chairs are 2 meters apart.  We will also be leaving the windows open, as the weather allows, for fresh air.  Please bring a sweater if you tend to be chilly.

  • Masks – please bring and wear your own mask while you are in the clinic.  Current requirements are that everyone wear a mask during appointments.

  • Clinic spaces have been set up to maintain a 2 meter distance between doctor and patient, and, with an open window for fresh air.

  • When your appointment is finished, the doctor will open the door for you and direct you to the waiting area.   During check out, please wait against the windows, or in the waiting room chair.  Please be sure to stay at least 2 meters from the front desk.

  • Whenever possible, we ask that you utilize a touchless payment system such as your credit card or e-transfer.

ICleaning Protocols – we would like everyone to be aware that we are following the BC CDC recommended cleaning schedule.  This information is available for you if you are interested.

  • The exam rooms, waiting room chairs, and bathrooms will be cleaned between each patient.   All equipment which comes into contact with a patient will be cleaned after each use as well as any touch points such as the door handles, tap handles, etc.

Telemedicine or phone appointments.  For the time being, telemedicine and phone appointments will be available to everyone when appropriate.  Telemedicine appointments are done through a secure, telemedicine platform.  As long as you have a good internet connection, and a camera and mic on your computer, we will be able to see and hear each other well.  Phone appointments are available for those without the necessary computer equipment or with poor internet connections.

Supplement Refills

We request that you please continue to call ahead for supplement and tincture refills.  We will fill your order, package it up and have it ready for pick up as soon as we can.  When you come to pick up your order, if possible, wave to us through the window, then, step into the vestibule and wait there while we get your package for you.  This system has been working very well, and we really appreciate those patients who have continued to buy supplements from us.  It has been extremely helpful in allowing us to keep our clinic open.

Clinic Hours – for the time being, the clinic will be open from 10am to 4pm Monday to Friday.  Telemedicine and phone appointments can be scheduled until 5pm.

We recognize how stressful this time has been for everyone, and we want you to know that we will continue to do our best to serve your needs.  Please ask if you have any questions about our procedures or what to expect if you come into the clinic.  All procedures are subject to change according the recommendations of the Public Health Officer, the BC Centre for Disease Control, WorkSafe BC and our licensing body, the College of Naturopathic Physicians of BC.
